Happy Mother's Day!

I just want to wish our three mothers (Mother, Teri and Marcia) a Happy Mother's Day! We love you!

My wonderful gifts!
The reason I get to celebrate!

More of that reason.....

Loving her blankie from Auntie Betsy

Blake bought himself a new gift for Mother's Day....I think I will be able to use them too!

I had a very nice Mother's Day. Blake got home from work and took me to breakfast, which was fantastic. We were supposed to go on a hike, but it got cancelled. I hung out at Kimberly's and watched a movie. She gave me some delicious Belgium chocolates. I got home and found a beautiful vaseful of flowers and a gift with a card. Blake got me the Precious Moments baby figuine that I really wanted. I can't believe how lucky I was this year. I got two P.M. figurines! I am now going to veg out and eat my reese's pieces. I can't wait until next year!

Springtime

She loves to hang out in the bassinett...as long as someone is talking to her!

Cuddled on Kim's couch

Wondering why I keep taking pictures of her :)

We have had a nice couple of days. I am looking foward to tomorrow. It's my first Mother's Day! I don't know if Blake has anything planned, but he will have to work :( The spouses group is doing a Mother's Day hike and luncheon. I think that will be nice. It has been so georgous lately! No rain in sight! We've hit about 75 degrees during the day. We no longer have our heaters on in the house and the windows stay open all day. I've had to keep my ears peeled for bees, though. I'm not sure if being allergic to bee sting can be hereditary, but Blake is allergic and I don't want to find out right now if Cara is or not. Needless to say, I now have fly swatters and a great zappy bug zapper fly swatter thing that Marcia gave us. It's fabulous. We are all getting over our colds. Mine has kind of settled in my chest, but that's usually the last stage before it goes away. I am very pleased about that. I hope you all are having a fabulous spring!!

Surviving

Well, I think we've survived our first sick-time. We've had a very long couple of days. Cara was not feeling well at all. She actually threw up twice. Poor little bug. She seems to be feeling almost back to normal today...so far. She's still a little fussier than normal, but she doesn't have a fever, which is fabulous.
On a different note, I now have a massive cold. I am being very careful not to breath on the baby. I also lost the diamond in my wedding ring. It was seriously not a good couple of days. Everything seems to be getting better, though. I am just so thankful that there are telephones and I can call my mom and sister whenever I need to. They are so wonderful! I love you guys!!

A new day....some new clothes...cute shoes!

As you can see, Cara has now officially found her hands! She looks at them, sticks them in her mouth...sticks them in MY mouth and is starting to reach for things! She is just so fun right now...in between her newest "I don't like to go down for naps" thing. I actually had to lay down with her this afternoon! She would not sleep. She was awake for, like, 6 hours. I went and got her and laid her in bed with me and she was asleep within minutes. I needed the nap too, so it really wasn't too much of a hardship :).

These are her new jammies. We've now turned the heat almost all the way off in the house. I have it on low in her room, but I still needed summery pj's. This is what I found. I love it. It's like a little nightshirt. It's a little big, but it's going to fit all summer long!

Trying to reach her pacifier. *
Desperatly wishing the pacifier would just fly into her mouth.

Having interesting days...

So, we've had an "interesting" couple of days. Carolyn has discovered she can make a new noise. It's a kind of scream/ahhh noise. She isn't crying and she's not sad, just vocal. She loves to make her new sound whenever she's not being cuddled by me. This made for a very long and noisy day. She has also started this cry/grunt thing when she goes down for her naps. She likes to nap in spurts right now. Usually about 20-30 minutes at a time. This also makes for a longer day. Yesterday I had to just leave her in her pank-n-play to just grunt/cry/scream/ahhh away. She wants my constant attention, which would be okay if I wanted the house to be a complete disaster zone. Right now, I can keep it at a partial disaster zone. I like to keep it that way! I'm still working up to fully clean (seeing as how that never really happened before...I'm not sure it will ever get done). I love seeing Cara's smiles, though. They make the whole day brighter! She loves to smile and talk to me. I was on the phone with my mother earlier and Cara thought I was talking to her. She absolutly loved it. She was talking and cooing back at me. I loved it that my mom could hear that.

On another note, we got a wonderful gift from my Auntie Betsy today. I absolutly love the blanket! I was just telling Kimberly the other day that I needed a little blankie for Cara. She has started really holding on to her blankets and crying when I take them away. I just love that it came in the mail two days after saying I needed one! I love it!! Thank you Auntie Betsy!
