(I, for some reason, can't type in the title spot...hmm, how strange.)

It was my friend Kimberly's birthday today. She loves frogs, so I tried my hand at making a froggy cake for her. I think it turned out pretty well for my very first try. The cake itself was a red velvet cake. It make eating the cake very interesting...the inside of the frog was blood red :) Everything turned out really well. It was my first red velvet cake too. I was so glad it tasted good!

And the baby makes three

We have a little blob in the making. As you can see from the picture, there isn't a whole lot of definition yet, but this tiny little being has a heartbeat!! We got to see it yesterday. We are due February 7th, and are praying this goes totally smoothly. We aren't very far along yet, but I just couldn't keep it a secret anymore. I just wanted everyone to know how happy we are!

Rome

Blake has booked a trip to Rome for us, for our anniversary!! How exciting is that?!? He got all the confirmations in his email this afternoon. I will defenitly be posting about it and posting pictures as well. I just can't believe the oppurtunities we have while being over here. It's simply amazing. Needless to say, life is pretty good right now. Blake is on a really great schedule for the next few weeks. We get to spend a little more quality time together. He will be home for our anniversary, which is always nice, and he doesn't have to deploy anytime soon. This is just fabulous! I guess that's it for updates for us for now!

Papa's Tag!!

It's Father's day (Papa's Tag) here in Germany...I guess it's father's day everywhere. I just wanted to share with you the adorable chair Blake got for his "child". Gratch is forever sitting in our large version of this chair and getting it completly covered in white hair. So, Blake was at the store the other day and came home with one just Gratch's size! How cute is that???

A birthday party

We were over at our friends house for Blake's birthday. It also happens to be Jason's birthday as weel, so we did a joint celebration. It was fun and Blake loved his gifts!! Here are a few pics.

Myspace is not evil, neither are blogs, I just don’t like them, but my wife wanted me to put a few comments on Spain and NASA so I will...only because she is beautiful and I love her.

So, most of these pictures are landscape and cathedrals. The main cathedral in Zaragoza (tharagoza) has been rebuilt on top of itself over the generations. Spain was inhabited by Muslims, Jewish, and Romans so you can see the influence with the round top domes and the Star of David everywhere. All in all the city of Zaragoza is full of history and culture; there is just about any type of food you could want and a different take on the history depending on who you ask. The reason I was there: NASA. Zaragoza is a TAL (Trans-Atlantic landing) site for the shuttles. There are three of them, Istres France and Moron Spain as well. Basically, if in the first 30 seconds, the crew feels something is wrong they will abort and land at one of the three sites. They also have the option of an AOA (abort, once around) recovery which is pretty much what it sounds like; one orbit around the planet and return to the Cape. My job there was to launch balloons, this way the astronauts know what the upper-air is like. When they come in, they are pretty much falling and their minimums are crazy compared to other aircraft. The smallest things such as light drizzle or a 10knot tail wind can restrict them from landing. Overall, NASA missions are wait wait wait...rush! But totally fun.

One alive, One dead

Well, I'm sorry to say that my african violet didn't make it....I think it must have commited suicide....I did everything I could for it. On a brighter note, my ficus is doing fabulous!! I was so pleased with it, I just had to take a picture! I can totally take care of plants like that...just not the violets.

Apple pie and a hair cut

So a few weeks ago, I made my very first apple pie. It was a little crispy around the edges, but it tasted great!! I did almost everything from scratch. Not the dough...that was pillsbury, but everything else was totally homemade!!


My sister and I were talking about haircuts today, so I decided to trim my hair....that turned into a classic "let's cut it all off" moment and this is what it looks like now. It will grow out eventually and I can get a hair stylest to straighten it out, but I'm pleased with it for the moment! :)

A New Week

Blake is in Spain this week, so it's been a kind of lonely week. Gratch and I are just hanging out watching all the movies I know Blake doesn't love...like Sound of Music, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, and Star Wars.He is becoming more of a Star Wars fan since marrying me. This is always good. I've caught up on my talking to people, as it's been awhile. We were on day shift, which is 7am to 3pm. This is when everyone over in your neck of the woods is still sleeping. So, we've just switched to swing shifts (3pm-midnight) and I can call more often. It's nice. I'm almost done with my German class and I have to say, I really think it's going to help. I can now get a basic understanding of what they're saying on the radio and signs out in town. Well, I guess this is it...not too much of an update, but I really hadn't updated in awhile. That's it for now!
